A favorite outing of ours is visiting local vineyards for wine tastings. A few weeks ago we went to Paradise Springs in Clifton, Virginia, just 30 minutes outside of DC. Through our experience, I have complied a few rules to follow when it comes to dressing for the occasion in celebration of DC Wine Week. Firstly, you will want to dress in layers because the tasting rooms are kept cold.
In the Fall/Winter, layering is a no-brainer, but the best way to be able to transition from indoors to outdoors during the warmer seasons is by putting a blazer or jacket over a tank top. With your layered look, you will want to be in comfortable shoes, because chances are, you will be walking through rough terrain.
A good way to stay comfortable and fashionable at the same time is with a pair of flat boots. Then, to avoid stains from red wine splashes, I dress in darker colors, like burgundy, brown, black or gray. And, last but not least, the final component to dressing for a wine tasting is a carrying a large handbag.
Typically, you'll be spending most of your day at the winery, tasting wines and enjoying the scenery, so you'll want to be prepared. A big bag is crucial for carrying your jacket, a camera, snacks and whatever else you think you'll need to get you through the day with ease.

I hope that when you combine all of these elements you find your self feeling comfortable and confident when getting dressed for DC Wine Week tastings. For a little bit of visual inspiration, this is what I wore to my most recent winery visit; a pair of burgundy Karen Kane Knit Leggings , T by Alexander Wang Tank Top , Steve Madden Boots, GAP Military Style Jacket, and a Big Buddha Bag. My outfit is compiled of basic pieces, and one that anyone can easily recreate.
I even went ahead and recreated it myself, while following my four simple rules, and came up with another outfit for wine tasting, which features a Wallis Blazer, and H&M Tank Top , Old Navy Rockstar Skinny Jeans, Steve Madden Leather Boots, and an ASOS Tote Bag.
