Washington Wine Academy Fall Events

Join the Washington Wine Academy for a fun, casual class where you can learn about wine or beer, or amp it up with a professional wine certification. We also host many larger public events that are entertaining and educational. Check out what’s coming up this fall:

  • Blues & Brews
    • Sept. 25, 5–8 p.m.
    • Free admission, cash bar
    • Cool off with a live Blues band and cold beer at Blues & Brews in Crystal City.

  • Pups & Pilsners
    • Sept. 22, 2–6 p.m.
    • $20
    • This dog-friendly festival features a beer garden with twenty different beers. We’ll have dog-rescue groups, Bowser Beer, and an assortment of local dog-related vendors.

  • Sip & Salsa
    • Sept. 15, 2–6 p.m.
    • $20, $10 for designated driver
    • Wines from Spain, Chile and Argentina will be matched with food samples from area restaurants. Enjoy live Latin jazz, wine education seminars, and Salsa from Columbia Pike’s Salsa Room.

  • Wine in the Water Park
    • Fridays in Sept., 6–10 p.m.
    • Free admission, cash bar
    • An eclectic outdoor event featuring live music in the Crystal City Water Park. We help guests select the perfect wine to kick-off the weekend, amidst the sound of falling water.

  • “One-Hour” Intro to Beer & Intro to Wine
    • Wine - Sept. 19, 7 p.m. / Beer - Sept. 26, 7 p.m.
    • $24.50
    • Our one-hour classes are fun and educational. You'll find no snobs here - we're just excited to offer great education to those looking to learn the basics.

  • WSET® Certification Courses
    • Intermediate - begins Sept. 25 (five weeks)
    • $675
    • Our most popular certification, the WSET® Intermediate, addresses basic viticulture, winemaking, and major wine regions of the world.
    • Advanced - begins Sept. 10 (ten weeks)
    • $1275
    • The Advanced certificate is more comprehensive, with additional attention devoted to spirits and fortified wines.

  • 1K Wine & Beer Walks
    • Nov. 16 and 17, 1–6 p.m.
    • $40
    • Cross the start line into the Shops of Crystal City, and rest your legs at our hydration stations - but you won’t find any sports drinks here. With 20 beers and wines to choose from, make your way through the race course, and running, please!

  • The State of Wine: Virginia’s Best Wines
    • Oct. 13, 7:30–11 p.m.
